Painting of Green Heron in breeding plumage using pastels

The rain and cold has kept me indoors lately and what better time than to finish the bird painting I had started a few weeks ago. With only just the branch left to do, I locked myself in the studio, put on some music (great motivator!) and grabbed my pastels. I may touch up the branch some more before framing the artwork but this little guy is pretty much "hot off the easel"...

  1. From what I can see of the pixelated image, it looks like one of your better pieces. I would love to see the actual artwork. Great job.

  2. Thanks John! But what do you mean by pixelated image? I can see it fine here. Are you trying to enlarge it to view more detail?

  4. What can I say, Colette!!! I absolutely LOVE this one! The branch is SO realistic and dead on. I work with pastels and could never get the fine detail you put into a painting!! Perfect piece.

  5. Colette, I wish I was more knowledable about technical things, but for some reason all of the images of this particular pastel have had the appearance of being a very low dpi. All of your other works look great. I guess the problem is something at my end of the line.
